A pager to let you know when someone visits
My Grandfather is very hard of hearing, as a result he started to get very anxious and panicked even when he is in his own house, as he couldn't hear when the mail was being delivered or when friends and family were visiting.
By installing something as simple as a wireless doorbell alarm, he was able to always feel the vibrations of the pager or the see the flashing lights, so he knew when people were at his house. This made him feel more relaxed and less anxious and irritable when people came to see him. A small product that made a huge difference to his home safety and confidence in being alone.
This is a fictional case study written to illustrate real-life situations our occupational therapists often encounter.
